The power transmission capacity of propulsion depends on the Max input torque,the propulsion application,the prime mover type and the vessel type will affect the actual input torque,please check with us for propulsion selection
The prime mover (diesel,electrical motor or hydraulic motor )MP(rated output torque)is vital to propulsion selection,below is the calculation formula:
Mp ≤ Sf * MR
Mp = N * 9549 / n
Sf = fz * fl * fs
Among:
Mp: Nm(Output torque of prime mover)
Sf: Rudder propeller service factors)
Mr: Nm (Max input torque of rudder propeller in Nm) N: KW(Output power of prime mover in Kw)
n: r/min (Input speed of rudder propeller in r/min)
The design torque is not the final basis of propulsion selection ,please adopt below Sf (torque safety coefficient)to calculate:
Sf=0.75: Full power continuous rating 24 hours service (container ships, push tugs)
Full power continuous rating 24 hours sevice (container ships, push tugs)
Sf=0.9: Intermittent service with eventual full load (harbor tugs, floating crane)
Intermettent service with eventual full load (harbor tugs, floating crane)
Sf=1.0: Auxiliary installations (tunnel thruster, DP-installations)
Auxiliary installations (tunnel thruster, DP-installations)
Sf‘s selection and calculation
Generally,the Sf of propulsion device meets the classification navigation specification. It should between 0.33-0.67 if Ice grade requested. For the propulsion selection with special installation requests should be determined by SJMATEK.
